Overview
Stone Town:
This is an ancient city dating from the 10th century. It is adorned with Arabic and Islamic monuments and architecture, plus Portuguese ruins which serve as historical remnants of the rich and diverse history of Unguja, Zanzibar across the Slave trade, colonialism to the modern era.
Stone town is located about 20 minutes away from Dar es Salaam by flight and 40 minutes by ferry boat. Daily flights are available from Kilimanjaro, Dar es salaam, and most Tanzanian airports. Due to its strategic location, most of the other locations in Zanzibar such as Paje, Matemwe, and Nungwi can easily be reached. You can easily do most of the adventure activities like snorkeling, scuba diving, swim with the dolphins, visit Prison Island, Forodhani gardens, or the spice market.
